mireia: Princess Serenity from Sailor Moon gazing out at the night sky from her balcony. (Spar - IT'S A TRAP)

Continued from this post, although I had never planned to make a follow-up. I was messing around YouTube a couple of days ago, and I found some things that made me very happy: more JCA dubs.

European Spanish: The Dark Hand (La mano oscura1
Brazilian Portuguese: The J-Team (Inimigo Mortal) 1 2

Now I have to confess that I'm not sure which countries handled the dubbing. I think that the Spanish one might be from Spain based on how some of the words are pronounced, but I'm not sure. If more of the series were uploaded, it might be easier to tell. Uploader says more of the series is on his site, but I can't figure out how to find them (and I already asked him if he had the rest of the episode because I apparently can't read, so I'm a bit reluctant to ask again). I can't read the description on the Portuguese play list, so I'm not going to assume whether it's from Portugal or Brazil. Thanks to[info]soumakagura for letting me know the Portuguese dub is from Brazil, and for helping me find the rest of the Spanish episodes.

I personally think that the voices given to Jackie in Spanish and Jade in Portuguese suit them really well.

(And someone finally uploaded episode seven in English, yes! I was so sad to see it was missing)

In other news, last night I started reading the Sailor Moon manga online to see how it compared to the anime. I'm ashamed to say I was up until about five in the morning finishing the Dark Kingdom arc. I should know better than to do something like that during the school week. But yes, I really enjoyed it. I'll be honest: I already think that it's better than that arc in the anime. (The anime from what I've seen is not bad, but the sheer amount of filler is staggering. I mean, I know why there is so much, but at times the show seems to go like this:

"Oh noes a youma is stealing energy/after the Rainbow Crystal/trying to get the Silver Crystal! Quickly, everyone! We must fight this evil through stock footage and projectile roses! Tune in next time when we might progress the plot! ...Maybe."

I've already watched past the part where Moon and Tuxedo Mask remember their past lives, so I'm half-tempted just to skip ahead to the finale, which I hear is wonderful.)

Hullo! I was browsing through [livejournal.com profile] vampirenaomi's f-list out of boredom and happened to see this post. =) I just wanted to confirm that the Portuguese dub is indeed from Brazil. As for the Spanish one... well, the uploader is from Argentina, so I guess it must be a Latin-American dub? I went to look for more episodes on his site, but I couldn't figure out how to find them, either. orz

So the Sailor Moon manga is better than the anime, is it? Most people I know say otherwise, but I guess they're just put off by the character design in the manga. XD Maybe I should take a look at it one of these days~

Thank you so much! I'll edit the entry to show that.

I personally prefer the manga, but I've only seen/read the Dark Kingdom arc of both, so my opinion may change after taking a look at the other arcs. Although I think one advantage in the anime was that it didn't move quite so fast, so there could be a little more time to get to know the characters. Ex: Bot Jadeite and Nephrite are dead by the fifth act in the manga, so they really don't make too much of an impression. I don't know how exactly to put it into words.

But yeah, if you're interested, I'd give it a look. :)

You're welcome! By the way, I should thank you for making that other post with the Japanese dub. I had a lot of fun watching it! The French one was also pretty good, IIRC. Watching my favourite series in different languages makes my inner language geek happy. XD I'll see if I can find it in other languages, too.

Ah, I see. To tell the truth, I barely remember anything from that part of the anime. I only began to actually follow it from R on. And I've read one volume of the manga series and one Christmas special. It looked to me as though the manga was actually more well-developed in terms of plot. The anime series was more of an "Enemy of the Week" kind of thing.

I'll look for the manga online tomorrow, then. :)

That's a pretty good way of describing the difference between the two versions, actually. XD

I hope you enjoy the manga. (But if you're wanting to read the official English translation for whatever reason, I just want to warn you that it was one of the company's first translations, so the quality is lacking in a few places. :O )

Sorry to spam, but I figured out how to find the Spanish episodes on that guy's site! I can't give you the direct link, though, so you'll have to follow my instructions:

1) On the top black box, in the centre, click on "Series y Animes en lĂnea";

2) Under "Animaciones Series", click on "Las aventuras de Jackie Chan" (right above the Manga section);

3) Ta-daa! ^^

After a few listens to the other episodes, I'm almost positive that it's Castilian Spanish. Thanks again for helping me!
